Everyone has heard the quote, "Shoot for the moon. If you miss, you'll still land among the stars!" As a mom, you always want to do your best. That's no secret, but moms are generally known to compete, judge, get jealous of and look down on other moms since, well, Genesis.
(Genesis 16) Sarah was jealous of Hagar, Ishmael and Isaac were constantly compared to one another. You get the point. It's been going on for a LONG time. This, however, doesn't make it an easier pill to swallow when it happens to you.
"Mom bashing" as I call it, is harsh, hurtful and extremely unnecessary. No matter how jealous and envious Sarah became of Hagar, God's hand was still on Ishmael. Women can call you out all day long, but God will not leave you.
Everyone has different parenting styles. This doesn't mean that one is better than the other. Look at the big picture... God chose each mother for a purpose. Just as He did with Ishmael and Isaac's mothers. The outcome is that it didn't matter which woman was better than the other or which child was smarter, but what DID matter was God's plan for each of them. They both had a purpose. Just as each child does now. It is our job as mothers, appointed by God, to teach our children, that Jesus died on that cross to pay for our sins. Teach them mercy and grace. Read them Bible stories. Show them how Holy our God is... As long as they are taught to walk with God and kept safe from harm, you're doing your job. As for the "mom bashers", we can set an example for them. Let them know that part of being a mother is not being perfect, but being "set apart" by God.
